It seems appropriate here to remind you that ... "a journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step!" So we are going to break this year in to 12 bite-size pieces but remember at this juncture that very often 'how you start is how you finish' so we want to start full of Capricorn gifts ... STRENGTH, COURAGE, DETERMINATION, LONG-TERM VISION AND (most of all) A PLAN!! My suggestion is to honor this season by making time to reflect and visualize, plan and strategize, commit and prioritize. Initiating the new year is Saturn and Mercury both Retrograding, indicating that your ideas and concepts of "structure" - the structure of your mind, body, spirit, life and life's work ALL need some serious attention. Some of you just need a strategic tweak here and there, others need to completely change their minds and their "structures" will follow. This month, Saturn Retrogrades Dec 31st giving you the opportunity to begin a 5+ month review of your structure, what's sound / what's not ... in Virgo, what needs to be healed and mastered ... and you have about six months to tweak it (and you). Jan 11th, Mercury Retrogrades, which suggests that you need to review your thoughts, ideas and concepts ... in Aquarius, thinking outside the box, which is what will be required in the coming years, so start practicing. An additional note about Mercury Retrogrades in 2009, first of all, three is normal and we will have FOUR. Also noteworthy, Mercury will Retrograde in all AIR signs and go Direct in all EARTH signs, which suggests that you need to review your thoughts, ideas and concepts, then move forward and ground them in tangible form. Our *bonus baby* (the 4th one) is going to Retrograde AND go Direct in CAPRICORN (EARTH), which also suggests that if you do the work of the YEAR, by the end of the year, you should have TANGIBLE RESULTS of your process.

~ POWER ~ OPTIONS & ADVANTAGES ~ BLESSINGS ~
POWER This month, we have more POWER than anything else! A mixed blessing. This amps things up in a major way (for better or worse). Your core, essential self (Sun) and your deepest desires, what you're passionate about (Mars) are both finishing a 4-6wk intensive this month revealing the differences (however subtle or glaring) between the Truth (Sag) in your heart and the truth of your reality. Now, as you digest the discrepancies, regain your equilibrium (from whatever undeniable truths recently illuminated) ... your attention will be shifted to the solid, resourceful, wealthy, independent, determined, stabilizing force of Capricorn, when the purifying power of Pluto gets added to the mix. Pluto rules the 'phoenix from the ashes' concept, on individual and collective levels. You've been stripped of the non-essentials blocking your Truth, it has been purified in Pluto's fire and is now worthy of life force energy and full expression. It's fascinating that your fundamental nature (Sun) and your desire nature (Mars) got together FIRST (Dec 5th) in Sagittarius to get your Ultimate Truth in alignment. Now, encouraged that you know who you are and what you want, connected to your personal Truth ... your core-Self (Sun) is preparing for its first meeting with Pluto in 248+ years (Dec 22) ... this falls between Winter Solstice (Solar) and Capricorn New Moon (Lunar), between the ending and the new beginning ~ making this a triple-whammy of NEW BEGINNING / REBIRTH / CLEAN SLATE ENERGY!!! Whew! and we're not even done ... now the final piece of this trinity of transformation, is when Mars gets to connect directly with Pluto (Dec 28th). You aligned your truth, surrendered to the initiation and now you are READY to be a fierce, loving warrior spirit (balanced Mars fueled by pure Pluto power). The other major connection is being made between Venus and Neptune in Aquarius. Venus is the planet that reminds us of the inter-connectedness of all living things and teaches us all about the feminine energy which supports, contains and nourishes all life. However, in Aquarius, we are reminded that feminine energy runs through both men and women so it is not about the sex as much as the ENERGY and the new definition of family, relationships and how we live together. Neptune is the planet of Oneness and dissolving boundaries (most of which we've all imagined anyway), in Aquarius, has been teaching us for the last several years that there is NO SEPARATION between the human race and each other, other living beings and Mother Earth. These two are getting together, initiating the year in a powerful way. This is the INITIATION of our GLOBAL FAMILY ~ COMMUNITY ~ and a whole new way of living together in peace and harmony. Add to the mix, your thoughts, ideas and concepts (Mercury) and expanding your consciousness (Jupiter) in Capricorn now, then when it Retrogrades & goes Direct, both will have moved in to Aquarius so be sure to take some time Dec 31st to plant some seeds that you want anchored (Capricorn) but that will also express your infinitely unique Self and contribute to the community (Aquarius).
OPTIONS & ADVANTAGES After Venus makes her way through Aquarius, she will move in to Pisces giving new meaning to "oneness" and touching Pluto in Capricorn giving you the energy to transform any dark reality in to something of substance and beauty. She will lend the soft touch necessary to begin to apply your new found values and priorities in constructive and solid ways in the world. This energy must be consciously directed to be useful, so take some time to how you can create ART with the tools and substance you already possess. Whatever you create with this energy will speak to others on a soul level and be transformative for all involved.

BLESSINGS Our saving grace throughout 2008 was the Jupiter in Capricorn in an easy angle to Saturn in Virgo, and this month, Jupiter may be moving on, but with the Sun (your essential nature) and Mercury (your voice and self-expression) in grounded, determined, ready-to-do-the-work Capricorn is giving Saturn the okay-nod to blend these energies for your own personal development. This is a chance to ground your intentions and solidify your plan ... anchoring the *new you* in the *new year*!
Everyone's biggest opportunity to grow is coming over a two year period (2008-2010) with the integration of powerful Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces. (Click Here for More on those two.) Over this time, the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus & Mars) are going to tag-team these two in a variety of ways, essentially integrating your individual nature with the shifts in the collective. The challenging part of this energy is that many times, as they tag one (Saturn), they are simultaneously tagging the other (Uranus) so it may get intense periodically. I consider these "activations" because they are awakening different parts of you at different times, moving energy and reorganizing you from the inside out.
